The Beginning of the End: A Call to Prayer and Repentance. The Beginning of the End. You're Invited to the Awana Closing

The Beginning of the End: A Call to Prayer and Repentance

Revelation 8

This week's sermon took us into Revelation chapter 8, exploring "The Beginning of the End" as we examined the opening of the seventh seal and the first four trumpet judgments. We were reminded that God has spoken—and continues to speak—through creation, His Word, and ultimately through His Son, Jesus Christ. The question isn't whether God is speaking, but whether we are listening. As we looked at the devastating judgments described in Revelation, we were confronted with the sobering reality of what awaits those who remain in rebellion against God. Yet even in these warnings, we see God's mercy—His desire to awaken people spiritually before it's too late. This passage calls us not to fear, but to lament, repent, witness, rejoice, and above all, pray.

Takeaways:

  • God greatly values our prayers - Like incense rising before His throne, every prayer we offer matters to God. Our dependence on Him, especially in times of suffering, is a sweet aroma in His presence. We should cultivate a lifestyle of prayer, crying out "Abba, Father" in our need.

  • God's judgment is real, but so is His mercy - The trumpet judgments reveal God as a righteous judge who will hold people accountable for their rebellion. Yet even in judgment, God is merciful—many will come to faith during the tribulation, both Gentiles and Jews who will recognize Jesus as Messiah. This should move us to compassion, not glee.

  • Now is the day of salvation - We don't know when these end-time events will occur, but we must live as if Christ could return at any moment. If you haven't placed your trust in Jesus, today is the day to turn from sin and self to Him. If you know Christ, share the good news with others while there's still time.

As we approach this Thursday's National Day of Prayer, let's commit to earnest, focused intercession for our families, our nation, and our world. Join us at noon here at Grace if you're able, or set aside time wherever you are to cry out to God for mercy and awakening.

May we be people who listen to God's voice and respond with hearts fully surrendered to Him.
